Herbert L. White

Herbert L. White, The Charlotte Post's editor-in-chief, has been with the publication since 1987 when he was hired as a general assignment reporter.
Under his leadership, The Post has earned several state and national awards during his tenure, including a pair of General Excellence honors from the North Carolina Press Association (first in 2016, third in 2004). He earned first in Enterprise Reporting for a 2021 Pulitzer Center-supported project on barriers the formerly incarcerated face upon their return to society.
Before joining The Post, White was a reporter at WMFD Radio in Wilmington, North Carolina, the Wilmington StarNews and the Iredell County News in Statesville, North Carolina. His reporting has also been published in TIME magazine, The Charlotte Observer, and Our State magazine.
