Purpose Prep & The Promise Land

Purpose Prep & The Promise Land will develop social studies curricula for grade levels K-5 that preserves the history of The Promise Land, Tennessee, heritage site and more broadly, the oft-erased legacy of Reconstruction-era schools founded by African-Americans in the South. By codifying primary source knowledge & testimonials from Promise Land descendants themselves, we seek to honor our rich local legacy of Black educational autonomy and resistance.
