Motor City Educators
MICHIGAN
The Motor City Educators team supports educators at the elementary through high school levels beginning in Dearborn, Detroit, and South Redford schools and expanding throughout Wayne County. Their objective is to systemically reframe their counties history instruction by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of Black Americans at the center of the narrative.

Cost of Inequality
Students examine the history of economic policies driven by racism that continue to promote inequality in contemporary America through a range of media, analytical writing, and civil discourse.

Reconstruction’s Legacy
Students examine the legacy of slavery, Reconstruction, and Jim Crow legislation on America by connecting historical events with contemporary issues and centering the experiences of Black Americans.

Elementary students research underrepresented stories of Black people who lived during the American Revolution, examining their relationship to the promises made in the Declaration of Independence.
