Our interdisciplinary English and Social Studies team will focus on literacies--reading, writing, music, art, photography, and more--as a form of liberation throughout history. We will look both at how literacy has historically been denied to marginalized groups, and we'll also look at how marginalized groups have used--and are using--literacies to affirm, to organize, to resist, and to find joy to inspire students to do the same.
