Our team plans to engage high school students in exploring the social and historical roots of affirmative action, focusing on the policy’s legacy and impact on educational equity. Through the lens of persuasive writing, students will critically analyze the effectiveness of colorblind versus race-conscious approaches to policy. Using historical case studies and contemporary debates, this interdisciplinary unit will challenge students to reflect on the continuing struggle for racial justice and their role in advocating for equitable education for all.
