Conscious and Radical Teachers
NEW YORK
Our team will develop a cross-curricular unit around argument, research, and critical thinking. We hope to design a unit that analyzes the key arguments in the opening essay of The 1619 Project as well as various pieces in the magazine and book to help students craft their own arguments and to examine the long-standing implications of race in society in order to determine what, if anything, is owed to the descendants of enslaved African-Americans.
CURRICULAR RESOURCES
-
Students examine the commodification of the labor of enslaved Black Americans, explore their contributions to the formation of American democracy, and examine arguments for and against reparations.
