Amplify Through Art
ILLINOIS
The Amplify Through Art Team will explore historically whitewashed aspects of American history and conduct research to better understand the events before creating data visualizations to better communicate the underrepresented histories and perspectives. For example, students might research Black Wall Street and the Tulsa Massacre of 1921 and use what they find to create well-organized, aesthetically-sound charts and graphs as art featuring the data collected on the lasting impact of the event on the Black community. The art of Pulitzer-prize winning artist and journalist Mona Chalabi will be incorporated as the standard for student data visualizations.
