This video tells the story of six villages in the interior of Jambi, Indonesia that managed to break in to the world carbon trading market. They achieved success in reversing deforestation trends and obtaining compensation for environmental services, or what is known as the Carbon Trade, under the REDD+ plan.
These villages successfully manage forests through these social forestry plans. Five villages — in Laman Panjang Hamlet, Dalam Tiga Ulu Subdistrict, Bungo Regency — received government recognition for their forests. In addition, what allows them earn to billions of rupiah from carbon trading is maintaining these protected forests.
