Noncy Fields

ELEMENTARY EDUCATOR

Noncy Fields was among the first cohort of educators awarded a grant as part of the Pulitzer Center's 1619 Project Education Network. As a curriculum writer, she co-authored a unit entitled Uncovering and Reclaiming Historical Identities. Noncy has led multiple professional development sessions on mathematics and culturally relevant pedagogy. Her focus is on supporting students as they utilize critical thinking and historical analysis skills to build an understanding of American history that is honest, accurate, and honors all perspectives. Noncy has also worked with the United States Department of Education on a program designed to bridge the gap between general education and special education teacher preparatory programs. Noncy Fields has taught first through fifth grades over the past 29 years.
