In the wake of the recent war in Ethiopia’s Tigray region, more than 30,000 female veterans of the Tigray Defense Forces await demobilization—their stories largely untold.
This project will profile these women, exploring why they joined the fight, what they endured, and their visions for the future. Finally, it will document the crucial yet often overlooked role of women in rebuilding communities and participating in peace processes.
