The Pulitzer Center is calling for local media or radio outlets in East, Southern, and West Africa to submit their proposals to implement participatory radio programs inspired by Pulitzer Center-supported stories. Initiatives are designed to engage communities and amplify Pulitzer Center-supported journalism on the intersection of climate and labor.

Main topic breakdowns include labor rights and conditions, livelihoods, climate justice, and the need for adaptation of labor regulations in response to climate change and its impacts on communities.

Proposals should inspire informed action and policy dialogue, engage and motivate communities to become active participants in the information ecosystem, and extend outreach to suburban and grassroots communities.

Partners will design and host participatory radio programs or podcasts based on Pulitzer Center-supported stories. These programs will provide communities with a platform to interact directly with decision-makers, share perspectives, and deepen engagement on the issues that matter most. We are looking for local media or radio outlets and media organizations.

By working with organizations that have strong local networks and proven capacity to engage youth, the Pulitzer Center ensures that outreach efforts remain locally led, contextually relevant, and sustainable. Radio engagement initiatives will not only amplify journalism in innovative formats, but will also help bridge urban and rural audiences, fostering more inclusive and informed dialogue.
