REIA At Eastern Michigan University

Our team project, Cultivating and Elevating Consciousness: Exploring the Legacy of Slavery, was created to bring our education community together to have in depth conversations on the roots of slavery and to also strategically find solutions for racial justice. Our project consisted of an education conference as a kickoff event followed by a campus lecture series and community advocacy work. We engaged critically with students, parents, educators, activists and community members regarding the enduring impacts of slavery in the United States and celebrated the profound contributions of Black Americans to all facets of American society.
