Aspire LA


Our unit will integrate key resources from The 1619 Project and reporting from Pulitzer Center journalist grantees to help students explore various forms of media and better understand how media shapes identity, perception, society, including systems of civic engagement, public policy, and law. This critical evaluation takes place at 3 levels in students' educational pathway, deepening their ELA, Social Studies, and Media Literacy skills. After these 3 progressively deepening experiences with media literacy at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, we envision students creating a culmination project or call to action in their communities.
