Achievement First

NEW YORK

Our team is working with 16 middle schools across New York, Connecticut and Rhode Island. We plan to use lessons from the 1619 project to talk about democracy, activism, and explain white backlash to students. We will be writing lessons about the role of slavery in the founding era, how Black activists fought for their rights through the church and resisted enslavement and the enduring legacy of enslavement during the Reconstruction period.
