Dozens of 10 meters logs from Meranti, Kruing and Katula tree species, piled up at a log pond on Tiniti Beach, Siberut Island, Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra at the end of July 2020. Barcodes made of yellow paper that represented information on type of wood were attached on the logs. There was also a red STN written on each log.
The logs belonged to PT Salaki Suma Sejahtera, a logging company that has a forest concession area in Siberut. The company started cutting the trees in 2008. Using special equipment, the logs were then transported to a pontoon ship that was leaving for Surabaya. Timber loading could be once a month or once every three months, depending on the weather.
