CHIEF FINANCIAL AND OPERATING OFFICER

Mouhamad Alem is the Pulitzer Center's chief financial and operating officer. He brings a rich and diverse set of experiences working across operations, finance, and management in both the nonprofit and corporate worlds. He is driven by the belief that people, knowledge, and opportunity can be combined to address the greatest of challenges.

In his previous role with Young Invincibles, he served as the chief operating and finance officer, where he ran all facets of the nonprofit’s operations. Prior to his time at GQRR, Alem served as director of information technology at Green America, a nonprofit focused on harnessing the strength of consumers, investors, businesses, and the marketplace to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society. He also served on the board as a staff-appointed representative.

Alem also served as project director with Microsoft, running the project that brought the Internet to Saudi Arabia for the first time.

As a grassroots organizer, Alem has written policy proposals, organized public awareness campaigns, and provided media training to support communities extending from New Orleans to Aleppo and on issues ranging from affordable housing to immigration reform.
