Leul Bulcha

GRANTEE

Leul Bulcha is a computer scientist who has worked as a Java Full Stack developer. He has extensive experience in GIS mapping, as well as software analysis, design, development, implementation, and testing of object-oriented applications and web-based enterprise applications using Java/J2EE.

He has a bachelor's degree in computer science from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, where he was senior class president in 2020.

Originally from Ethiopia, in 2019 he was inducted into Alpha Alpha Alpha, a national honor society that recognizes the scholarship and achievements of first-generation college students. During his college years, he was a Liberian Awards Scholarship recipient.

He first learned to use GIS online mapping software as a summer intern at Hola Cultura in 2016. He joined Hola Cultura's EJ reporting team in January 2021 as the GIS intern and will continue in the position and lead online mapping in the heat island story in summer 2021.
