Jim Garrett

GUEST CONTRIBUTOR

Jim Garrett is a professor of social studies education in the Mary Frances Early College of Education at the University of Georgia. Jim’s research centers the emotional demands of learning and teaching about the social world, particularly when that learning has to do with trauma, crisis, or vulnerability. Currently he is researching how social studies teachers can learn from the methods of civil rights activists of the past and present; professional development at museum spaces; and the complexities of news media literacy education. His book, Learning to be in the World with Others: Difficult Knowledge & Social Studies Education, was published in 2017 by Peter Lang.
