Jack Igelman

GRANTEE

Jack Igelman is a freelance journalist with a master’s degree in economics. He specializes in stories about the people, places, and institutions working to protect and steward North Carolina’s environment.

In addition to his reporting, Igelman teaches economics at Warren Wilson College in North Carolina. His work has appeared in numerous local, regional, and national publications and his environmental reporting for Carolina Public Press has earned multiple awards.

Based in Buncombe County, Igelman is writing a book about the grassroots effort opposing a 1966 Tennessee Valley Authority plan to dam 14 tributaries of the French Broad River.
