Gaston Bonheur Sawadogo

Freelance journalist Gaston Bonheur Sawadogo investigates organized crime, smuggling, corruption, urban crime, cybercrime, money laundering, and terrorism financing.

He has taken part in several transnational investigations into cigarette and drug smuggling in the Sahel, in collaboration with the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and the Norbert Zongo Cell for Investigative Journalism in West Africa (CENOZO). 

He is a trainer/editor for CENOZO and works as an investigative reporter for OCCRP. Previously, he was editor-in-chief of L’Evénement in Burkina Faso. In addition, he was the 2021 winner of the Norbert Zongo Prize for the best African investigative journalist.
