Florence Middleton

Florence Fong Hope Middleton is a documentary photographer, photojournalist, and cinematographer based in Oakland, California. Florence’s work focuses on the themes of community, women, and culture, and she is committed to telling longform stories as well as stories through her lens as a new mother. She has reported both locally and globally. Florence was awarded two Pulitzer Center Reporting Fellowships and a Dorothea Lange fellowship, was a College Photographer of the Year (CPOY) finalist, and earned her master’s degree from UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.

This student Reporting Fellowship was supported by the Pulitzer Center thanks to a grant from the IV Fund, focused on mental well-being in the United States.
