Becca Burton
GRANTEE
Becca Burton is a co-founder and director of The Marjorie. She is the communications manager for the University of Florida Thompson Earth Systems Institute, housed in the Florida Museum.
Burton served for five years as communications coordinator for Florida Sea Grant, a coastal research organization where she combined her love of marine biology and journalism to help share the stories of marine scientists across the state. For two years, she was a freelance reporter for the Miami Herald, where she covered the local, environmental, and health beats.
She received her bachelor’s in journalism from Florida International University, where she minored in marine biology. In addition, Burton received her master’s in science communication from the University of Florida.
