Astha Savyasachi

Astha Savyasachi is an investigative journalist whose work focuses on socio-political and human rights issues in India. Her reporting has appeared in leading publications, including Al Jazeera, TRT World, The Wire, The Reporters Collective, and Scroll.
Known for deeply reported investigations that challenge power and expose systemic injustice, her work has sparked widespread public discourse, including debates in the Indian Parliament.
Her reporting has been recognized by several national and international institutions. In 2025, she was named one of the top 25 global finalists for the Tarbell Fellowship in AI reporting. She was also shortlisted for the 2023 Sir Harry Evans Global Fellowship at Durham University, placing among the top 20 candidates worldwide.
In 2024, she received the Best Text Reporting on Human Rights & Religious Freedom Award from the Indian American Muslim Council for her investigation into India’s military schools. She has also been part of the International Center for Journalists’ global cohort on Disarming Disinformation, training alongside over 100 journalists worldwide to expose election-related disinformation.
Savyasachi holds a postgraduate diploma from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi, and a bachelor’s degree in software engineering from Delhi Technological University.
