Bianca Padró Ocasio

Bianca Padró Ocasio is a journalist from Puerto Rico with at least nine years of experience working in media in the United States and Peru. She is interested in compelling stories about the environment, health, and human rights.
She was part of the regional investigative series led by OjoPúblico, Las rutas del oro sucio (The Routes of Dirty Gold), about the new destinations of illegally mined gold in the Amazon, which was a finalist in the 2025 Sigma Awards.
She co-produced a short documentary, Fronteras del Contacto (Frontiers of Contact), about the conflict between a logging company in the Peruvian Amazon and an isolated Indigenous community.
From Lima, she also contributes to The New York Times, The Washington Post, Refinery29, and Argus Media. Previously, she was a political correspondent for the Miami Herald and a reporter for the Orlando Sentinel and Politico.
