Sheref Morad is a Cairo-based investigative journalist driven by one core question: Who controls the data, and who pays the price?
He has navigated the worlds of algorithmic bias, surveillance infrastructure, and opaque digital deals across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Whether analyzing the hidden pathways of AI procurement or exposing gaps in data protection laws, Morad combines open-source intelligence, data journalism, and deep local reporting.
He currently works with the platform Arabi Facts Hub, and previously contributed to investigations for Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism (ARIJ) and Al Jazeera, including a multi-country exposé on Meta’s algorithmic biases during the Israel-Gaza war.
His work explores how emerging technologies intersect with power, identity, and accountability—especially in regions where digital transformation often outpaces regulation.
