REPORTING FELLOW

Tanesha R. Golding is a senior philosophy major on the pre-law track at Spelman College, with a passion for international human rights and social justice. As a first-generation college student of Jamaican descent, she has dedicated her academic and professional journey to advocating for marginalized communities through research, journalism, and policy work. Tanesha presented on issues related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals at the United Nations in Tanzania, further solidifying her commitment to global human rights initiatives. She has also interned with organizations like Human Rights Watch and the International Rescue Committee. Through the Pulitzer Center, Tanesha’s project, Poverty to Pregnancy Pipeline in Ghana, investigates the socio-economic and cultural factors contributing to unintended pregnancies among young girls in rural Ghana. The research examines the financial barriers preventing girls from continuing their education and the lack of support systems that limit their ability to raise children while pursuing their education and career goals. Based on her findings, she aims to propose strategies that not only address reproductive health but also enhance the available support for young mothers, enabling them to balance family life with educational and career advancement.
