Chaffey College Media Day: Reframing the Story

CALIFORNIA

The Breeze and Chaffey College are hosting a Media Day welcoming media and journalism students from local high schools and colleges. This event will include speakers, workshops, and on-the-spot media and journalism contests that focus on the democratic importance of the press. Event programming will utilize material from The 1619 Project and human rights reporting supported by the Pulitzer Center. Through focus on the ways that The 1619 Project reframes American journalism and exploration of the legacy of slavery present in how both Jim Crow and Juan Crow laws have shaped the contemporary media, we will ask the question of how students can be equipped to forge better models for news media.
