An English summary of this report is below. A Spanish summary of the original report, a Climate Tracker podcast episode, follows.

In 2017, part of Chile suffered the most devastating fires in the country's history. At that time, the fire was just a few kilometers away from the home of a couple who live on a 16-hectare property and who could have lost everything.

After that dangerous experience, Rocío Cruces and Víctor Faúndes decided to prepare for another disaster, and they did so with a unique solution: raising goats to prevent fires. What they did not expect was that six years later, their strategy would be put to the test by a new fire season in their region.
