Ekaterina Venkina
2024 POST-GRAD REPORTING FELLOW
Ekaterina Venkina is a journalist focusing on politics and global affairs and an award-winning graduate of Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. During her decades-long career, she has lived, studied, and worked in six different countries: Russia, Sweden, the United States, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Germany. As a news reporter, she has been covering Russia's war in Ukraine from day one in live tickers and breaking news.
She was privileged to be a fellow of the International Journalists' Programmes (IJP), the Swedish Institute (SI), the Institute for the Promotion of Young Journalists (IFP), Neue Deutsche Medienmacher (NdM), the Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism, and the Morton Mintz Fellowship in International Social Policy at Columbia University.
When not covering politics, she enjoys working on human interest stories and writing about artificial intelligence. In 2021, she spent several months in Silicon Valley as a Transatlantic Media Fellow for the Heinrich Böll Foundation. She has been reporting for DW since 2014, most recently from Berlin.
