Global Connections Series Promotional Graphic

As the original education partner for The 1619 Project, which began as a New York Times Magazine special issue, the Pulitzer Center has supported hundreds of educators in expanding student understanding of the complex origin story of the United States. This fall, we will support educators connecting themes from the Project to underreported stories on pressing global issues through the 1619 Global Connections Workshop Series.

The 1619 Global Connections Series is designed to equip educators with resources and strategies for connecting America's origin stories to contemporary global issues. Throughout the series, we will practice media literacy and global citizenship as we explore Pulitzer Center reporting on Global Health, Climate and Environment, Peace and Conflict, and Information and AI that directly relates to The 1619 Project goals of interrogating historical narratives, acknowledging Black Americans’ contributions to history, and understanding the lasting legacies of slavery.
