Join the Pulitzer Center and the University of Pennsylvania for a special screening from the Hulu docuseries The 1619 Project.

Published by The New York Times Magazine in 2019, The 1619 Project was a journalism endeavor developed by journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones. It reframes the country's history by placing the consequences of slavery and the contributions of Black Americans at the very center of the national narrative. The Pulitzer Center is the education partner for The 1619 Project.

The screening of the "Democracy" docuseries episode will be followed by a discussion with Jake Silverstein, editor-in-chief for The New York Times Magazine, and Anthea Butler, professor of religious studies at the University of Pennsylvania.

This event is free and open to the public, made possible with support from the Pulitzer Center and the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education. Refreshments will be served.
